PETA Internacional, informa

Picture a group of dogs, rats or other animals trapped in cages and given higher and higher doses of toxic chemicals or drugs until some or all of them are dead.
.
This lethal testing is just one example of the gruesome tests performed on up to 8,500 animals every day in the UK! It is so cruel and unreliable that even companies which perform it often want to use other methods.
.
But because of resistance by international regulators – who often block more effective testing methods which do not involve animals – they can't. PETA is calling on the government, the EU and other international bodies to end their support of cruel and outdated animal experiments – and to stop stonewalling more accurate alternatives which don't cause suffering to animals. And we urgently need your help.
.
By making a donation to PETA today, you can help us bring an end to the needless torture which is inflicted upon hundreds of thousands of individual animals who are innocent victims in government-mandated tests.
.
You may have read a recent e-mail from me in which I told you the story of Daisy, one such animal who died after being deliberately fed a toxic substance in a laboratory.
. As you may remember, Daisy had a plant-growth regulator – a form of plant food – mixed in with her food. She became sicker and sicker. Her back legs became weak, and she suffered from severe muscle spasms. Eventually, she died – even before she was scheduled to be killed by those conducting the experiment.
.PETA and our affiliates have worked tirelessly to expose just how unreliable and inherently cruel animal tests really are. Behind every drug and behind every cosmetics or household product which has been tested on animals, there are hundreds of stories of animals – just like Daisy – who may have been poisoned, burned with chemicals, cut open or killed.
You can help us end the abuse of animals in laboratories. Your support can help us to ensure that in the future, no more animals like Daisy suffer needlessly. Please make an urgent donation to PETA today.
.
All that most animals trapped in laboratories know is pain, torment and abuse. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can end the use of animal tests and help scientists and researchers develop and use new and more reliable testing methods. PETA's US affiliate has already been making great strides towards that goal.

.
Backed by some of the most credible experts in the field, PETA US scientists, researchers and campaigners are forcing governments and international bodies to recognise that advancements in biology and computer modelling have made reliance on animal testing as wasteful as it is cruel. These efforts have recently been validated by the US government itself. The National Academy of Sciences – the US government's chief scientific advisory body – has released a report calling for an immediate shift to more reliable non-animal tests. And PETA US is working hard to compel the US Congress, scientists and regulators to make this happen.
.
Progress is being made in the EU too but it is too slow and leaves millions of animals exposed to needless suffering: we need your help today to persuade our government and the European Union to take urgent action and ensure that the UK is not left behind. Please support us so we can continue our hard-hitting campaigns and our vital work towards ending the abuse of animals in the UK and around the world.
.
Kind regards,
. Ingrid E Newkirk
